The dogwood tree is surrounded by a mesmerizing legend within the Christian faith…once the size of a mighty oak tree it was chosen to be used to construct the cross on which Jesus was to be crucified. The tree became unhappy with its purpose and would never again grow large enough to ever build another cross. Its branches would become narrow and crooked and no longer suitable for construction. The delicate dogwood flower itself is a wonderful symbol of the Easter season…four petals that resemble the shape of a cross, the center laid as a crown of thorns, at the tip of each petal an indent resembling nail punctures, and a reddish hue around those indents resembling the blood of Jesus. Soft and pastel in coloring, this newest paper collection reveals beautiful springtime shades of pinks, peaches, and greens which set stunning backdrops for scripted lettering and graceful swirls, while darker hints of blues and blacks bring out the gorgeous detail and coloring of the showy dogwood florals. Watch this video to learn different shaping techniques using the dogwood flowers.

Instructions: Prepare a white card stock base at 4" x 9", cut the Black card stock and a piece of the Flowering Dogwood paper each 1/8 an inch smaller, adhere to card base. Cut another piece of the black card stock 3" x 3 3/4", layer a piece of the Flowering Dogwood on top, using Double Dots on the lower half, adhere to card. Find the add on Sentiment piece, layer with black card stock and add to card as shown. Stamp the leaves and flowers on white card stock using the Walnut Stain Distress ink. Color the leaves with the Bamboo Leaves, color the flowers with the pink passion. Cut every thing out, shape and adhere to card. To finish add glitter and Prills.

Watch this video to learn different shaping techniques using the dogwood flowers.

Instructions: Prepare a card base at 5" x 7". Cut a piece of the Flowering Dogwood paper with the Church printed on it and trim 4 7/8" x 6 7/8", adhere to card base. Cut the Botanic Window out of white card stock and using small foam dots adhere to the card.

Stamp the flowers on white card stock with the Walnut Stain Distress ink, cut out, color and shape. Stamp the leaves on white card stock with the Bamboo Leaves ink, color, cut out, shape and adhere to card. Glue the flowers in place. Stamp the sentiment at the top of the card. To finish add Prills to the center of the flowers and glitter.
